Bosnia and Herzegovina Gains Momentum on Its Path to the European Union: Negotiations with the EU Approved to Begin

Bosnia and Herzegovina is making strong strides as a new candidate for the expanding family of the European Union: Statements from Charles Michel, President of the European Council, signaled a significant development in strengthening the country's ties with the EU. Michel's remark, "Your place is in our European family," has opened the door for Bosnia and Herzegovina's membership in the EU.

The European integration process for Bosnia and Herzegovina began with its membership application on February 15, 2016, and after approximately seven years of waiting, the country achieved the desired candidate status on December 15, 2022. This achievement was crowned on March 12, when the EU Commission recommended starting negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the Summit of Leaders held in Brussels, the heads of state and government of the 27 members unanimously decided to turn a new page in Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession process. The progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to EU membership is of great importance for regional stability and integration. Every step Bosnia and Herzegovina takes towards joining the EU family shapes the future of Europe.
